Wuxi Polytechnic is located in the beautiful West Bank of Taihu Lake and the famous hometown of professors - Yixing, Taodu. College is approved by the people's Government of Jiangsu Province, Jiangsu Provincial Department of Education under the full-time ordinary colleges and universities, Yixing City is currently the only independent system of ordinary colleges and universities.

The predecessor of the college is Taodu University of technology, which was founded in 1958 and has a history of 50 years. The college has a strong educational background and a good human and geographical environment. It has six departments, including ceramic art, fashion design, art design, mechanical and electrical engineering, material engineering, economic and trade, and a total of 18 majors, covering art design, machinery, materials, electronics, computer, financial accounting, economic and trade and other professional fields, including ceramic design, ceramic technology, optometry technology The specialty of medical technology is unique in Provincial Higher Vocational and technical college. The college enrolls students from all over the country, and focuses on cultivating applied, technical and innovative talents with comprehensive professional skills. At present, there are about 7000 full-time students.

There are 61 teachers with the title of deputy high or above, and 54 young teachers with graduate degree. Among the existing teachers of professional courses and professional basic courses, the proportion of double qualified teachers is more than 70%. The college has many famous ceramic experts, national first-class artists, senior experts in the glasses industry, etc. The college attaches great importance to the work of production, teaching and research, and teachers have made fruitful achievements in teaching and research.
