Xinjiang Agricultural Vocational and technical college is a full-time ordinary college established with the approval of the people's Government of Xinjiang Autonomous Region in June 2000, which mainly focuses on higher vocational education. Its predecessor, Changji agricultural school, was founded in 1959. The college is located in Changji City, Xinjiang, covering an area of 3698 mu, of which the campus area of Changji campus is nearly 600 mu, with a construction area of 150000 square meters. Hutubi Dongquan campus is 3098 mu.

The campus environment is elegant, tree lined and convenient. It has an experimental training building with an area of 14000 square meters, in which there are 46 experimental training rooms and more than 4000 sets of advanced experimental instruments and equipment. According to the concept of "resource sharing, mutual benefit and win-win", it has built a 17000 square meter library information building with Changji Prefecture, with a collection of nearly 700000 books. It also has an information center and a first-class campus network, satellite TV and Internet Closed circuit television double control system, multimedia language teaching room, more than 1000 computers; built advanced school training base: China Israel dry farming demonstration training center, Xinjiang Xinshi improved variety Co., Ltd., breeding farm, animal hospital, Changji mycorrhizal center, etc.

The college has jointly run schools with relevant colleges in Australia and Malaysia, and selected overseas students to study abroad. It has carried out scientific and technological cooperation and exchanges with Israel, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine and other countries. Xi'an Jiaotong University, China Agricultural University, Northwest University of agriculture and forestry science and technology, Shaanxi Normal University and other national famous universities have set up correspondence teaching stations or self-taught examination guidance stations (spots) in the college. In China, the college has cooperated with relevant colleges in Liaoning, Ningbo, Guangzhou, Suzhou and other provinces (cities), Xinjiang forestry school, PetroChina Xinjiang Education and training center, etc., and has initially formed a "multi type, multi-level, multi form" school running pattern with agricultural higher vocational education as the main, secondary vocational and adult education as the auxiliary, technician training and various vocational skills training simultaneously.

At present, the college has nine secondary branches, including the College of biotechnology, the College of landscape science and technology, the College of animal science and technology, the College of economics and trade, the College of information technology, the College of humanities, the College of engineering, the College of international cooperation, and the College of continuing education. There are more than 50 specialties in seed production and management, quality inspection of agricultural products, horticultural technology, landscape engineering technology, food nutrition and inspection, animal husbandry and veterinary, animal epidemic prevention and quarantine, accounting and auditing, tourism and hotel management, computer application technology, etc. At present, there are more than 10000 students and more than 800 teaching staff.

The college vigorously implements order education, and has established extensive and stable cooperative school running relationship with more than 300 listed companies and well-known enterprises in the economic belt on the northern slope of Tianshan Mountain, as well as enterprises in the southeast coastal developed areas. Each secondary college has established cooperative school running community with several enterprises, and each major is supported by a strong enterprise group. More than 2000 employment orders are signed with enterprises and institutions every year.

The social service ability of the college has been continuously enhanced. Led the creation of Xinjiang Primary Industry Vocational Education Park, and took this as a platform, with the strong support of Party committees and governments at all levels, successively established Xinjiang characteristic forest and fruit industry demonstration training center in Aksu, and established Xinjiang grassland animal husbandry demonstration training center Altay base and Yili base in Altay and Yili. The college has introduced large leading enterprises, actively started to build agricultural demonstration training centers (Turpan and Tacheng bases) and Hutubi base of modern agricultural demonstration training center in Xinjiang Autonomous Region, formed a pattern of "four centers and six bases", constructed a service network system covering Xinjiang's large agriculture, and realized the steady and rapid healthy development of the college in the process of serving Xinjiang's economic and social development Exhibition.

The situation of enrollment and employment is booming. Since 2004, the first employment rate of graduates for five consecutive years has reached more than 98%, ranking first among the universities in the autonomous region.  

The college is the director unit of China Vocational Education Association, the member unit of the National Joint Conference of principals of higher vocational colleges, the member school of the Teaching Steering Committee of agricultural vocational education of the Ministry of education, the pilot college of "agricultural vocational education capacity building plan" of the Ministry of agriculture, the affiliated unit of Xinjiang Vocational Education Association, the chairman unit of the joint conference of principals of Higher Vocational Colleges in Xinjiang, and the primary industry vocational education park in Xinjiang Chairman unit.

Over the years, the college has carried forward the college spirit of "hard struggle, innovation, self-improvement, and pursuit of excellence", made great efforts to explore and innovate the ideas and talent training mode of agricultural higher vocational education, built a "win-win" mechanism, deepened the reform of education and teaching, and found a unique way of talent training, which has been approved by the Ministry of education, the Ministry of agriculture, the Party committee and the people's Government of the autonomous region The government's affirmation and the general praise from all walks of life.

On May 18, 2007, Wang Lequan, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Secretary of the Party committee of the autonomous region, visited the college in person, unveiling the launching of the construction of national model higher vocational colleges. In his speech, he pointed out: the orientation of Xinjiang Agricultural Vocational and technical college is accurate, the concept and thought of running a school are advanced, and the talent training mode is novel. The autonomous region will focus on promoting the practice and experience of the college. In addition, he wrote an inscription for the college, saying "I hope Xinjiang Agricultural Vocational College can make greater contributions to the future" and took a group photo with the leading group.

The college is one of the first batch of 28 national demonstrative higher vocational colleges, the "national advanced unit of vocational education" commended by the State Council, the "100 famous moral education research schools", the national advanced unit of democratic management, the advanced collective of vocational training in the autonomous region, the outstanding contribution unit of high skilled talents training in the autonomous region, the advanced collective of Ideological Education in the autonomous region, and the "May 1st" in Changji Prefecture ”Advanced collective of labor certificate.

China Education Daily, Xinjiang Daily, Xinjiang Education Daily, farmers daily, Xinjiang Economic Daily, Changji daily and other media have reported on the running of the college with characteristics for many times. Among them, from June 16 to 18, 2003, the front page of China Education Daily reported on the college's characteristic school running situation with the titles of "a wider and wider road of vocational education innovation", "exploration of new talent training program" and "zero distance" school running concept "for three consecutive days. From June to August in 2007, Xinjiang Daily reported the practice of innovation and development of the college with the title of "out of the road of innovation and development of agricultural vocational education" on five front pages, which caused strong repercussions in the society.
