Nanjing Institute of information technology is a full-time public university with a history of more than 60 years. It belongs to Jiangsu Provincial Economic and Information Commission and is now a national model (backbone) higher vocational college.

Long history of running the school: the predecessor of the college is Nanjing Radio Technology School, the first electronic technical secondary school in New China, which was founded in 1953. Premier Zhou Enlai, Chen Yi, Tan Zhenlin, Xi Zhongxun and other party and state leaders visited the school. In 2002, with the approval of the Ministry of education, the school was upgraded to Nanjing Institute of information technology. The college has trained more than 50000 electronic information professionals for the country and enjoys a high reputation in the information industry.

Advanced teaching facilities: the college is located in the beautiful Xianlin University Town, covering an area of more than 1000 mu, with fixed assets of more than 1 billion yuan, and the total value of instruments and equipment donated by enterprises is more than 100 million yuan. The college has 2 national training bases, 4 provincial training bases, 172 on campus experimental training rooms and 250 off campus training bases. Excellent teaching team: more than 700 faculty members, including 199 in-service professors, associate professors and senior engineers; 406 teachers with doctor's and master's degrees; 1 national famous teacher, 2 provincial famous teachers, and 2 provincial excellent teaching teams. The college also employed more than 700 enterprise management and technical backbone as part-time teachers. In recent years, the college has successively obtained 37 scientific research projects at or above the provincial level, undertaken more than 360 horizontal projects of enterprises, obtained more than 90 invention patents and utility model patents authorization, more than 21 software copyright registration authorization, and published more than 4000 papers in various journals.

Distinctive professional characteristics: relying on the information industry, the college has built eight professional groups, with 53 majors. At present, there are four key construction majors of national backbone higher vocational colleges, two key construction majors supported by the central finance, four provincial brand majors, four provincial characteristic majors, four provincial key construction specialty groups, and six provincial Demonstration Higher Vocational Colleges. The college has built a municipal university science and Technology Park, introducing more than 30 enterprises, and introducing enterprise resources into the whole process of talent training.
