Zhangye Medical College

Zhangye medical college is a medical college which was rebuilt in April 2003 with the approval of the Ministry of education on the basis of Zhangye health school founded in 1952. The university is located in the middle of Hexi Corridor, the Bank of Heihe River, the important town of ancient Silk Road, Zhangye City, a famous historical and cultural city known as "jinzhangye". It is the only full-time general medical college in western Gansu. After the reconstruction of the school, the management mode of co construction and co management of the province and the city is implemented. Over the years, under the correct leadership of Zhangye municipal Party committee and municipal government and the direct guidance of provincial and municipal education and health authorities, the school's leading group has seized the opportunity and judged the situation. In the process of development, the school always adapts to the requirements and development trend of the times, seizes the opportunity, constantly clarifies the guiding ideology of running a school, adheres to educational innovation, deepens the teaching reform, improves the conditions of running a school, strengthens the basic construction of teaching, strengthens the teaching management, comprehensively improves the quality and efficiency of education, and improves the level of running a school. In order to meet the needs of socialist market economy and social development, a first-class training mode of medical college education with distinctive characteristics has been gradually formed. Based on the motto of "good morality, good medicine, erudition and innovation", the school has continuously strengthened its construction and expanded its scale of education. It now has six majors, namely clinical medicine, nursing, medical imaging, pharmacy, midwifery and integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine.

Since upgrading, the university has launched qualified construction projects such as teaching staff construction project and infrastructure construction project, and formulated the "10th Five Year Plan" and "11th Five Year Plan", which has drawn a blueprint for the rapid development of the University. Seizing the historical opportunity of the great development of higher vocational education, the University actively strives for bank loans, municipal financial investment, staff fund-raising, staff salary mortgage loans and other channels to raise school running funds, increase teaching investment, and greatly improve school running conditions. In the process of construction, the school attaches great importance to the construction of teaching infrastructure such as laboratory, library, campus network and public service facilities. In 2004, our school was identified as the training base of skilled talents in nursing field by the Ministry of education, Ministry of health and other six ministries and commissions; in 2005, our school was established as the training base of "general medicine" by Gansu Provincial Department of health; in 2006, our school was established as the training base of "rural doctors" by Gansu Provincial Department of health. The university increased the investment in outpatient department and was approved as the Affiliated Hospital of Zhangye Medical College in 2007.

The school attaches great importance to the cultivation of talents, constantly strengthens the construction of teaching staff, strengthens the construction of teachers' ethics, cultivates "double qualification" teachers, and introduces talents with high academic qualifications; strengthens the education and cultivation of students, and the construction of "multi certificate system", so as to cultivate high-quality medical talents for rural grassroots units. In September 2002, our school was approved as the national computer grade examination center by the Self-taught Examination Office of Gansu Provincial Department of education; in October 2004, it was approved by the Self-taught Examination Office of Gansu Provincial Department of education to set up independent undergraduate nursing education; in September 2005, it was approved as the national public English grade examination center by the Self-taught Examination Office of Gansu Provincial Department of education; in March 2007, it was approved as CET-4 and CET-6 by the Self-taught Examination Office of Gansu Provincial Department of education In June of the same year, it was approved as the Putonghua test center by the Language Committee of Gansu Provincial Education Department. The development of these projects has built a platform for students to acquire all kinds of knowledge and laid a good foundation for training high-quality medical talents in rural grassroots.

Since its establishment, the school has trained more than 10000 medical and health technical personnel of various types, and has become the backbone of technical transformation and technical backbone on the medical and health front at all levels. It has made outstanding contributions to promoting the development of medical and health undertakings in our province, especially in Hexi region and the whole province.
