Cihu Street

Cihu sub district office is located in the northeast of Huashan District, within the scope of Cihu township. In the southwest, it is connected with Jinjiazhuang and Tangxi sub district offices, covering an area of nearly 8 square kilometers. It administers 6 community residents committees with 14427 members (2010). There are four ethnic groups: Han, Hui, Manchu and Mongolian, most of which are Han. The office is located at 39 Cihu South Street.

History and culture

In ancient times, Cihu was said to be a swamp. Near there is the mountain of cilao (also known as maozi mountain), which is connected by mountains and rivers, so it is named Cihu. It is also said that the lake is rich in plum inkstones. Every spring famine, the victims rely on catching clams for a living. Because the lake is merciful, it is called Cihu. Before liberation, Cihu was a small market town under the jurisdiction of Dangtu County. Cihu river passes through the town. There is a bridge on the river, so there are Qiaonan street and Qiaobei street. At the beginning of liberation, Cihu was still under the jurisdiction of Dangtu County. In 1957, it was transferred to Ma'anshan City and built Cihu township. In January 1959, it was changed into Cihu sub district office. In October of the same year, it was changed into Cihu branch of Jinjiazhuang commune. In 1964, Cihu sub district office was re established, belonging to Jinjiazhuang district. On September 5, 2012, Jinjiazhuang district was abolished.

Traffic situation

There is a railway station in Cihu, which is crossed by Ningwu railway. There are also highways extending in all directions, including Ningwu highway, Huahua Road, Lianhe Road, Zhaoming Road, Cihu Road, Beitang Road, Shuguang Road, etc. There are two reinforced concrete arch bridges on Cihu river. In 1985, the Ma'anshan and automobile ferries were opened to traffic and economic exchanges between Ma'anshan and Jiangbei.

In recent years, Cihu has developed into an important industrial base in Ma'anshan. The new area of Masteel, Cihu Industrial Park in Ma'anshan and Jinjiazhuang Industrial Park are located in Cihu. There are Masteel pelletizing plant, powder metallurgy plant of Masteel, Jinxing Chemical Group, Julong company, Hongli rubber, China Rubber Company, Fengyuan company, Saint Gobain company, Huaqi company, Wantong electric company and Fangyuan company Huicheng company, conch group, saiyate company and more than 30 industrial enterprises above designated size.
