Guilin College of aerospace industry is located in Yaoshan scenic area of Guilin, an international famous tourist city. It is a college of engineering, which focuses on engineering, develops management, humanities, sociology and other disciplines in a coordinated way, and is characterized by cultivating applied talents for production, construction, management and service. The school was founded in 1979, formerly under the Ministry of aerospace industry. In April 1999, the school was transferred to Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to implement the management system of "central and local co construction, with local management as the main".

The school covers an area of 825 mu, a building area of 301900 square meters, and the total value of teaching and scientific research equipment is nearly 50 million yuan. The school has a fully functional and well-equipped teaching building, experimental (training) building, audio-visual education hall, student apartments, plastic track standard sports ground, etc. The library has a collection of 1.503 million books, including 760000 e-books. The campus network system is perfect, covering the teaching area, office area and living area, and the construction of digital campus has begun to take shape.

The university enrolls students from 26 provinces (municipalities directly under the central government and autonomous regions) in China, and currently has more than 9100 full-time students. There are 10 teaching units including Department of business administration, Department of computer, Department of mechanical engineering, Department of electronic engineering, Department of automobile and power engineering, Department of foreign languages, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Department of economy and trade, continuing education center and International Education Exchange Center. The university has set up 49 majors, including 11 high-quality majors in Guangxi Colleges and universities, 2 pilot majors of teaching reform in Guangxi Colleges and universities, and 6 excellent courses at Guangxi district level. In 2008, the University was awarded the honorary title of "advanced unit of teaching reform and management of Guangxi Colleges and universities in 2006-2008" by Guangxi Education Department.

The school has 634 teaching staff, including 511 full-time teachers, 166 teachers with senior titles, accounting for 32.5% of the total number of full-time teachers; 213 teachers with graduate degrees (including 10 doctors), accounting for 41.7% of the total number of full-time teachers. The University adheres to the combination of production, study and research, and actively plays the school running function of scientific research and social service. In recent years, the university has undertaken 113 scientific research projects at or above the municipal department level, including 6 national scientific research projects, 5 national defense and aerospace engineering product development projects, and 7 provincial and ministerial scientific research achievements awards; it has undertaken 36 Guangxi new century higher education teaching reform projects, and won 6 provincial and above teaching achievements awards, including 1 national second class teaching achievement award and 1 provincial teaching achievement award One first prize, two second prizes and one third prize. In the past two years, teachers have published nearly 950 papers, including 180 core journals. Journal of Guilin Institute of aerospace industry, sponsored by the University, is a journal included in China's core journal (selection) database. Meanwhile, it is also included in the CD-ROM edition of China's academic journals, and has been awarded the "first prize of Excellent Journals of Guangxi Universities in 2008".

Students participate in mathematical modeling, numerical control technology, College English and other national and regional competitions, and have achieved good results. In 2008, students participated in the National Mathematical Modeling Competition and won two second prizes; one person won the second prize in the fourth national itat education engineering employment skills competition; two first prizes, one second prize and five third prizes were won in the second Guangxi college students electronic design competition; two special prizes, one first prize and ten second prizes were won in Guangxi section of the National College Students English competition. The graduates have a solid foundation, strong technology application ability and good comprehensive quality, which are welcomed by the employers. In recent three years, the initial employment rate of graduates is more than 95%, ranking in the forefront of colleges and universities in Guangxi, and has been awarded the honorary title of "advanced collective of college graduates' employment work in Guangxi" by Guangxi Education Department.

The university has good conditions for practical teaching and training. It has 27 teaching experiment (training) rooms and training bases, 1 internship factory, 45 off campus training bases and 140 graduate employment bases. Among them, there are three demonstration training bases for Higher Vocational Education in the autonomous region, and three demonstration training bases for higher vocational education in the autonomous region. It is the "responsibility" of the Ministry of education In the field of technology and application, the training task of skilled talents in short supply should be set up. The school has set up the "national vocational skill appraisal institute" determined by the Ministry of labor and social security, and has 14 vocational skill training and qualification appraisal stations (sites) for CNC milling machine operators, machining center operators, automobile maintenance workers, marketers, secretaries, public relations workers, advertising designers, etc., to carry out vocational skill training and appraisal for students and employees of Guangxi enterprises and institutions. At the same time, the school actively trains talents for the industry and local areas. It is the talent evaluation agency of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation and China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation "skilled talents training base", the remote sensing and telemetry talents training center of the UAV production base of the National Disaster Reduction Center of the Ministry of civil affairs and the national talent exchange center of the Ministry of personnel in Guangxi.
