Deciduous shrub, 50-120 cm high. Branches, petioles and inflorescences are spiny; new branches are red purple, densely covered with white villi; old branches are purple brown, covered with villi. The terminal leaflet is the largest, rhombic, or 2-3-lobed, with 5-9 (~ 11) leaflets, broad ovate or rhombic lanceolate, 2-5 cm in length and 1-3 cm in width. The apex is short pointed or acuminate, the base is round or broadly cuneate, the edge is double serrated or coarsely serrated, the lower part is white green, densely covered with fine villi; the petiole is about 1-3 cm long; stipules are red purple, lanceolate, villous.
