[source] the fatty oil was obtained from the mature seeds of Camellia oleifera Abel.

[plant morphology] shrubs or small trees. Branches slightly hairy, bark yellowish brown, buds with loose scales, slightly hairy. The leaves are alternate, leathery, elliptic or elliptic, oblong, 4-10cm long and 2-4cm wide, apex acuminate, base broadly cuneate, margin serrate, glossy, sparsely hairy when tender, lateral veins not obvious; petiole is about 6mm long, hairy. The flowers are white, solitary or coextensive at the top of branches, sessile; the diameter of the flowers is about 4cm; the sepals are round, covered with silky hairs outside; the petals are 5-7, obovate, 2.5-4.5cm long, the apex is deeply 2-lobed, the outside is thinly covered with hairs; the stamens are numerous; the ovary is densely covered with silky villi, the top of the style is 3-lobed, and the base is covered with hairs. The capsule is subglobose, 2.2cm in diameter, 2-3-lobed, with thick woody petals. 1-2 seeds. The flowering period is from September to November.

It grows in the Bush on the hillside. Produced in Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Anhui, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Fujian, Hubei and Hunan.

[harvest] fruit is picked in autumn, dried in the sun, and the seeds are produced to produce oil.

[note] tea seed cake contains saponins, tannins and alkaloids of Camellia oleifera. It can collect dampness and kill insects, and has the effect of killing blood sucking insect eggs.
