[plant morphology] Lespedeza chinensis

Small shrub, about 1 meter high, with white fluff. Stems erect or spreading. Compound leaves alternate, 3 leaflets, obovate oblong, 1-2 cm long, 0.5-1 cm wide, apex truncate, with short tip, base broadly cuneate, margin slightly reversed, densely pubescent below; lateral leaflets smaller; stipules strip, hairy. Raceme axillary, pedicel very short, flowers few, yellow white; apetalous flowers axillary in the lower part of the branch; bracteoles lanceolate, hairy; calyx cup-shaped, calyx teeth 5, lanceolate; flag petal about 8 mm long, wing petal nearly as long as flag petal, keel petal longer than flag petal. The pod is ovoid, 3-4 mm long and contains one seed. The flowering period is from August to September. The fruit period is from October to November.

It grows under the sparse forest and in the grass at the edge of the forest on the sunny hillside. Distribution in Guangdong, Jiangsu, Anhui, Zhejiang, Fujian, Taiwan and other places.
