Perennial herbs. The root is thick and large, yellow. Stem stout erect, about 1 m high, green purple, longitudinal ditch. The leaves are oval or oval, 15-30 cm long and 12-20 cm wide. The apex is obtuse, the base is heart-shaped and entire, and there are tubercle like protuberances below. The stem leaves are alternate, ovate lanceolate, and gradually smaller to bracts.
