[plant morphology] bermudagrass

Herbs perennial, rhizomatous, fibrous roots fine and tough. The stem creeps on the ground, up to 1 meter long, erect upward, 10-30 cm high. Leaf sheath with cream, sheath mouth usually pilose; leaf blade linear, lower part seems to be opposite due to internode shortening, 1-6 cm long, 1-3 mm wide. Spikes 1.5-5 cm long, 3-6 fingers clustered at the top of the stem, spikelets gray green or purplish, 2-2.5 mm long; glumes with a midrib to form a spine, both sides membranous, 1.5-2 mm long; lemma herbaceous, as long as spikelets, with three veins, hairy on the spine; palea about as long as lemma, with two ridges, anthers yellow or purple, 1-1.5 mm long. The flowering period is from May to October.

It grows in open fields, streams and fields, and is often used to build lawns and courts. It is widely distributed in the south of the Yellow River.
