[plant morphology] 1

Liana, stem climbing, nodose, glabrous smooth. Leaves alternate, leathery; petiole 1-2 cm long; leaf blade elliptic or narrowly elliptic, 7-11 cm long, 3.5-5.5 cm wide, apex acuminate or cuspidate, tomb round cuneate, entire, glabrous above, glossy, veinlets not visible, hairy below, veinlets 5, prominent. Flowers dioecious; spikes, 4-7.5 cm long, pendulous; total pedicels longer than petioles, flowers very small, dense; bracts shield, smooth; stamens 2, anthers kidney shaped. Berry, sessile, free, spicate, spikes of different length, fruit pyramidal in young and dry, about 2 mm in diameter at maturity. The flowering period is June. The fruit period is from July to August.

It grows on the edge of mountain forest. It is distributed in Hubei, Hunan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Sichuan and other places.
