Herbs perennial, up to 60 cm tall, all glabrous and smooth. Stems tufted, erect or oblique. Leaves many rooted; spatulate or long obovate, base narrowly winged, nearly entire. Stem erect, many branched, inflorescence inserted at the end of the branch on one side, or close to the head; calyx tube funnel-shaped, hairy on the edge, margin 5-lobed, folded, dry membranous, white or light yellow, persistent; flower box 5, spoon shaped to elliptic; stamen 5, inserted at the base of petals; ovary superior, 1-locular, style 5, separated, stigma capitate. Capsule 5-ribbed, enclosed in calyx. The flowering period is from July to October.
Most of them live in saline land. Distributed in Liaoning, Shaanxi, Gansu, Shandong, Shanxi, Henan, Hebei, Jiangsu, Inner Mongolia and other places.
