[plant morphology] Begonia sempervirens

It is a succulent herb with a height of 15-45 cm. The root is fibrous. Stem erect, fleshy, glabrous, base much branched, green or light red. Leaves slightly fleshy, ovate or broadly ovate, 5-8 cm long and 3.5-7.5 cm wide, apex acute or obtuse, base slightly heart-shaped, slightly oblique, margin serrate and eyelashes, both sides bright, green, but main veins usually reddish. The flowers are reddish or whitish, several of which gather on the axillary pedicel; the male flowers are larger, about 1-2 cm in diameter, with 4 perianth segments; the female flowers are smaller, with 5 perianth segments. Capsule green with red wings. The flowering period is from April to the end of the year.

It is cultivated all over China.
