[plant morphology] Spiraea Hydrangea, also known as Sorbaria sorbifolia, is a pearl hydrangea.

Shrubs, up to 1.5 m high. Branchlets slender, glabrous. Leaves ovate to rhomboid ovate, 2-5 cm long, 1-3 cm wide, apex obtuse, margin notched, obtuse serrate, often inconspicuous 3-5-lobed, glabrous on both sides, pale green below, with slightly protruding veins; petiole 6-8 mm long. Flowers white, polygamous, in small umbels, ca. 3 cm in diameter; calyx lobes ovate, apex acute; petals broadly obovate; stamens numerous; pistils 5. Follicles erect, glabrous, style reflexed or expanded, calyx persistent. The flowering period is from April to May.

It is distributed in the Yangtze River Basin and the south of China.
