Liana woody, about 10-12 m high. Branchlets numerous, hairy. The outer skin of stem is brown. Leaves alternate, elliptic lanceolate, 3.5-8 cm long and 3-6 cm wide, apex acuminate, base obtuse, usually entire, with hairs on top; petiole short, ca. 5 mm, with hairs. Inflorescences capitate, terminal or axillary, ca. 1 cm in diameter, arranged in cymes; bracts 4-row, lanceolate, 1-5 mm long, shorter outside; flowers purplish red; bisexual, corolla tubular, 5-lobed. Achene, corolla numerous.

It grows in gully, stream side or in sparse forest and shrub. It is distributed in Guangdong.
