Perennial herbs, 0.5-2 m high, all covered with green capitate glandular hairs, with strong odor. Stem cylindrical, with 5-8 rows of irregularly notched wings. Leaves alternate, elliptic to longovate, 10-25 cm long and 5-12 cm wide, apex pointed, margin irregularly undulate serrated, base broadly cuneate or truncate, gradually narrowed along petiole, compound extending into wing along stem; lateral veins 12-15 pairs. Cymose conical compound inflorescence, capitate at the top of each branch; involucre with 5-6 bracts, bracts linear lanceolate, green with purple halo; corolla tubular, white with purple color, apex 5-lobed; many flowers per week, unisexual, pistil 1, ovary inferior, stigma 2-lobed; central bisexual flower, 15-20, about 8 mm long, stamen 5, filaments attached to corolla, pistil 1, stigma rose red Color.
