At present, Yongding River is facing many problems, such as the decrease of water quantity, the deterioration of water quality, the deterioration of ecological environment and the destruction of flood control dams. Since the 1970s, Yongding River has been regarded as a flood discharge channel in Beijing, and its role in ecological conservation and urban landscape has been ignored to a certain extent. As a result, the ecological environment of Yongding River and its coastal areas has gradually deteriorated, seriously affecting its image as Beijing's "Mother River".

Introduction to scenic spots

Yongding River is one of the four major flood control rivers in China. It is the largest river in Haihe River system, with a total drainage area of 47000 square kilometers. The drainage area in Beijing is about 3200 square kilometers. The Beijing section of Yongding River is 170km long, which is divided into Guanting gorge section, plain urban section and plain suburban section, and flows through Mentougou, Shijingshan, Fengtai, Fangshan and Daxing districts. Yongding River is also the mother river of Beijing, which breeds Beijing's profound cultural heritage and unique human resources

Yongding River is an important ecological corridor connecting Southwest China and Beijing. The development and management of Yongding River can not only greatly improve the ecological environment of Southwest China and enhance the regional economic value, but also play an important role in implementing the overall urban planning of Beijing, improving the quality of urban ecological environment and accelerating the construction of Beijing into an international livable city.

In 2010, the "four lakes and one line" project was launched to build a green ecological corridor with water scenery and water green. By the end of 2010, 150 hectares of water surface and 120 hectares of greening were formed in Mencheng lake, Lianshi lake, Xiaoyue lake and Wanping lake. In order to create conditions for the development of Yongding River waterfront economy, it is necessary to thoroughly eliminate sand and dust, build a good ecological water environment, and promote the ecological management of the whole Yongding River.

Overview of scenic spots

Wanping lake is located on Yongding River of Lugouqiao, Fengtai District, Beijing. Wanping lake is an artificial water storage lake, which is connected with Xiaoyue Lake in the north. The water surface of the whole lake is 1.31 km long, 400 m wide, 1.0 m deep on average, and the water surface is 52 hectares (equivalent to the sum of the areas of Yuyuantan and Bayi Lake). Nearby are the famous Memorial Hall of the Chinese people's Anti Japanese War and Lugouqiao scenic spot.

Wanping Lake project of Yongding River (from Lugouqiao rubber dam to Yanhua pipe bridge section) includes ecological restoration of embankment, riverbed and beach. The main construction contents include: ecological restoration of left embankment 1.25km; ecological restoration of right embankment 1.47km. 51.55 hectares of lakes, streams and other water systems will be built. 87 hectares of beach land were restored.
