Another name is baiyaogen and Tripterygium wilfordii hoof.

[source] it is the root, stem and leaf of Spatholobus tomentosa.

[plant morphology] Caulis Spatholobi

Climbing shrubs. Stem with longitudinal, striate and lenticel, twigs pilose. Leaflets 9-11, obovate, ovate or oblong, 5-16 cm long and 3-6.5 cm wide, apex obtuse or slightly concave, base cuneate or obtuse, glabrous above and yellow or brown pilose below. Raceme axillary, sometimes terminal panicle, 10-25 cm long, yellowish brown pilose; flower 1.5 cm long, pedicel and sepal yellowish brown pilose; corolla pink, back of flag petal covered with golden yellow hairs, base without callose appendages, wing petal base with short ears on both sides, and keel petal back covered with a bundle of long bristles; stamen a bundle; pistil densely pilose. Pods oblong, 5-9 cm long, subglabrous. The flowering period is from May to July.

It grows in semi shady open forests or in shrubs along streams. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Yunnan and other places.
