Deciduous shrubs. Branches curved, brown, twigs white pilose. Leaves alternate, short petiolate; leaf blade papery, elliptic to elliptic oblanceolate, 4-12 cm long, 2-3.5 cm wide, apex caudate, gradually contracted and narrowed below middle. Base rounded to cuneate, margin slightly undulate, or nearly entire, dark green above, light green below, with short hairs, pinnate veins near margin, reticulate veins distinct. Inflorescence axillary. Cryptocarpus is brownish red at maturity, obovate, about 1.2 cm long, covered with short coarse hairs.
