China urges the US to establish a correct understanding of China

According to a report on the Hong Kong Economic Times website on January 16, Marco Rubio, the Secretary of State candidate nominated by US President-elect Trump, said at a Senate hearing that "China is the most powerful and dangerous opponent the United States has ever faced" and "the United States must make it clear to China that it will pay a price if it 'aggresses' Taiwan."

In response, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said on the 16th that the United States must establish a correct understanding of China and stop unwarranted attacks and smears on China. Taiwan is China's Taiwan, and the Taiwan issue is purely China's internal affairs and does not tolerate any external interference. The biggest challenge to peace in the Taiwan Strait today is the separatist activities of "Taiwan independence" and the interference and sabotage of external forces.

Guo Jiakun said that China's development has a clear historical logic and strong endogenous driving force. Our goal is bright and aboveboard, which is to enable the people to live a better life and make greater contributions to the world. China has always viewed and handled Sino-US relations in accordance with the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation proposed by President Xi Jinping, while resolutely defending its sovereignty, security, and development interests.

Guo Jiakun said that what the US should do is to abide by the one-China principle and the three Sino-US joint communiqués, abide by its commitment not to support "Taiwan independence", stop condoning "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, and stop interfering in China's internal affairs on the Taiwan issue.
