Zhuo Botang

Zhuo Botang is the first director and professor of the school of film, Hong Kong Baptist University, a member of the Hong Kong Film Development Council, and a distinguished tutor of Nanjing Media College. He has studied in Journalism Department of Taiwan Chengchi University with a bachelor's degree, a master's degree in film art (production) from the University of Southern California, and a PhD in film philosophy from the school of communication, Hong Kong Baptist University.

He has been a director of the Hong Kong Radio and Film Corporation (hereinafter referred to as TVB). He has directed Interpol, taxi driver, the first time, four eyes detection, woman 30 and neon sisters series. Films: "car burning" and "bin Mei", etc.

His works include "Hong Kong type films" (co authored with Rocca Wu Hao), "breaking down mainstream films" and "posters of early Chinese commodities" (also known as "Metropolis Modern"), and "Shaw Empire: the imagination of cultural China" (maitian 2003), etc.

In recent years, he has been engaged in the research of film and television. After finishing the book "Hong Kong new wave film", he is engaged in the research of Hong Kong television and globalization.

Character achievement

He has published papers in relevant journals, special issues and monographs at home and abroad, such as postscript, review of Hong Kong International Film Festival, film art, United literature and Journal of Beijing Film Academy.

In the early 1970s, when I was studying in University, I founded the influence film magazine with friends in Taiwan, which had a great influence on the new films in Taiwan in the early 1980s.

He has been engaged in film review for many years, and published in influence, feature, film biweekly, cosmopolitan, Asia Weekly, United Daily, radio and TV weekly, Star Island daily, etc.
