Shedong mountain

Shedong mountain

Located 4.5 kilometers west of Nianzi mountain area in Qiqihar City, shedong mountain covers an area of 300 hectares. The highest peak, Longfeng, is 406 meters above sea level. It is a national "AA" scenic spot. The scenic area is divided into six functional areas, including the main scenic area with snake cave mountain as the main scenic area, water recreation area with Yalu River as the water surface, camping area, animal and plant viewing area, religious area and service area, which organically combines leisure, entertainment and viewing. Qingshi cliff, snake cave, Longfeng, Fuer temple and Xihe garden are all famous landscapes.

archaeological discovery

Shedongshan is a Paleolithic site. The unearthed stone tools were personally identified by Mr. Jia Lanpo, a famous archaeologist in China and discoverer of human skull in Beijing. In the west of the snake cave, there is a long and faint blue shallow mountain in the sun, which is the Great Xing'an Mountains. The Great Wall along the Great Xing'an Mountains to the North Bank of the Yellow River separates the Mongolian language family from the Tungusic language family. To the west is Xiongnu, and to the East is Donghu. To the west is Mongolia, and to the East is Nuzhen. The best passage from Mongolian grassland to Songnen Plain is Yalu River Valley.

Shedong mountain is also the discovery site of Paleolithic culture. Stone knives, stone axes, stone tools and mammoth ivory were excavated. In 1987, it was designated as "municipal key cultural relics protection unit" by the people's Government of Qiqihar.

Ancient legend

Snake cave mountain has an ancient legend. Wei Yulan, a famous scholar of the Qing Dynasty, once recorded in the old news of Longcheng: "there is a long snake cave in Nianzi mountain, which is covered with huge stones. It is said that at the beginning of the reign of Emperor Guangxu, a snake came out of the cave and explored the Yalu River for drinking water. The end of the cave is still in the cave. It can be seen from its growth. " Another record: when the Russians were building the Dongqing railway, the snake came out and was seen by the Russians. It was shot by a gun from afar, but it failed. The snake was angry with the stone and killed several Russians. The local people thought it was a God and prayed a lot, also known as "immortal cave". Hence the name of snake cave mountain.
