Fukou township is located in the southwest of Yongtai County, adjacent to Dehua and Xianyou counties, 81 kilometers away from the county. With a total area of 148 square kilometers, it governs 10 villages including Fukou, xiangluan, Jikeng, Wucun, Shanzhai, Zishan, Shuangxi, houting, Houzhai and Meicun, covering an area of 148 square kilometers, with a total number of 4366 households and a total population of 13882.

Historical evolution

Fukou management area of Songkou commune was established in 1958, Fukou commune was established in 1961, and township was changed in 1984. In 1997, it had an area of 148 square kilometers and a population of 13000.

The township has 7407 mu of arable land, 163000 mu of forest land, 30000 mu of economic forest, 4127 mu of bamboo forest, 250000 cubic meters of timber stock, and 84% of forest coverage. Fruit area of more than 10000 mu, per capita more than 1 mu, hydropower installed capacity of more than 10000 kilowatts, annual power generation of more than 35 million degrees, per capita fruit, hydropower ranked first in the county.

There are Qifeng, Qishi, waterfall, Xiandong, Shentan and Bihu. There are thousands of rare ancient trees in Zishan, such as yew, Tianshui, Gusong, Laoshan, etc. Zishan village is the highest mountain village in Yongtai. Purple Mountain is always surrounded by smog, imitating the sea of floating clouds in Foshan, as in fairyland. Fukou township is the birthplace of huzunquan. Li Yuanzhu, the founder of huzunquan, and his successors Zheng dengguang and Li Zhaobei are all local people in Fukou. "Huzunquan" spread to Japan, Western Europe, North America and Southeast Asia. Bishi, Zishan, cheduiyang and Tuyang are the revolutionary base villages. The villagers have made great contributions to the guerrillas in central Fujian.
