Chen Liepin

Chen Liepin, born in 1923 in Guangdong, is the most important director of Cantonese martial arts films in the 1960s, and the mentor of famous actor Chen Baozhu.

Film features

Most of his martial arts movies are adapted from the martial arts novels at that time. At the same time, they integrate Western shooting techniques, pay attention to production and big scenes, especially the performance of the hero's character. It can be said that they are completely beyond the contemporary Cantonese martial arts movies. In "Chen Liepin and the new martial arts Cantonese film", film critic Rocca praised his film for its efforts in creating atmosphere, managing space, feeling martial arts, and focusing on the shaping of character. He directed most of the martial arts films of Xianhe Ganglian film company. The blue blood and gold hairpin, snowflake sword, Xianhe needle, Tianjian sword, Liuzhi Qin devil and laofuzi are his representative works. The first four of them are adapted from wolongsheng's martial arts novels. Liuzhi Qin devil is Ni Kuang's martial arts novels. In the 1960s, most of the films of Hong Kong Xianhe Ganglian Film Co., Ltd. were directed by Chen Liepin, which made Zhang Yingcai, Chen Baozhu, chenni and other famous movie stars popular. The film series of laofuzi directed by him is particularly classic and famous.
