Born in Nanhua County, Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province, in a Yi village at the foot of Ailao Mountain, I like music since childhood.
He once worked as a hotel attendant and factory mechanic. His father was a recovering soldier of the frontier armed police force. His mother had never been to school, but she was born with a good voice. She was known as "mountain song bailing" in the local Yi area. Under the influence of his mother, he finally chose the road of music and art, which was hard and bumpy. A Cheng graduated from the Musicology Major of Yunnan Academy of art, and studied vocal music with Shi Xiaokun, a baritone singer in Yunnan Province and vice president of Yunnan Higher Vocational College of art. After graduation, he joined the Chinese people's Liberation Army's preparatory communication regiment in Kunming garrison district, During the period, he was specially employed as a vocal singer by the military music troupe of Yunnan Military Region, and then received the careful guidance of Nie Jianhua, a famous tenor and national first-class actor (senior high school) of the Chinese armed police cultural and Art Troupe in vocal music.
