Banzhu township is located in the northwest of Tongliang District, Chongqing, at the junction with Tongnan district. Banzhu district is half of Tongnan District, 16 kilometers away from Tongliang district! Banzhu township was set up in 1919, the commune was changed in 1958, and the township was restored in 1983. In 1997, it covers an area of 18.7 square kilometers and has a population of 9000. It governs eight administrative villages and one neighborhood committee, namely Xinyi, Baita, Sanshi, Ruyi, Pingyan, Taishi, Yi'an and longdang. In 2006, Banzhu township was abolished in Tongliang district and included into Lvfeng town. In the East is Banzhu community in Lufeng Town, Tongliang District, and in the west is shuangba village in Xiaodu Town, Tongnan district. There is a medium-sized reservoir with an area of more than 3000 mu.

There are 118 specialized fish farming households in the township, with nearly 1000 net cages and an annual output of over 1000 tons of adult fish.
