Brief introduction of Jino drum dance
Applicant: Jinghong City, Yunnan Province
Great encouragement is called "situ pot" in Jinuo language. Situ is "Dagu" and "pot" is "Tiao". It is popular in Jinuo village in Jinuo mountain, Jinghong City, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. Jinuo people dance big drum to thank amoyaobai, the creator goddess of Jinuo People, who saved the world with big drum. The most ceremonious time to celebrate the "temaoke Festival" is three days after the beginning of spring. There is a complete set of ceremony for big drum dance: before the dance, the village elders should first kill a suckling pig and a chicken and offer them to the drum. Seven elders kowtow to worship, and one of them recites the sacrificial words to pray for the drum to bring good luck and peace to the people. At the end of the ceremony, one person holds the drumsticks in both hands while beating and dancing. There are also several beating, cymbals and accompaniers. The lyrics of the dance are called "wuyouke". The lyrics are mostly about the history, morality and habits of the Jinuo People. The dance moves include "worship the gods", "Happy Dance" and "Celebrating the new year". Dagu is a ritual, important and sacred object of Jinuo Nationality. It can only be hung on the God pillar of zhuoba (Zhailao) family. The manufacture of Dagu must follow very strict procedures.
Jinuo drum dance is rich in historical and cultural connotation, and has a certain artistic and ornamental value. At present, only three old people over 70 can master the whole process of drum dance ceremony and all dance movements, which is in an extremely endangered situation and in urgent need of protection.
