Introduction to Taoist music (Taoist music of Dongyue Temple)
Applicant: Pingyang County, Zhejiang Province
The Taoist music of Dongyue Temple in Pingyang is the only traditional ritual music of Quanzhen sect in China. According to the investigation, the "ten square rhyme" of Dongyue Temple in Pingyang was passed down from the famous palace of Huangyan in Zhejiang Province in the late Qing Dynasty. It was introduced into Pingyang by Lin Yuandan and Xue Yuanshun, the 19th generation masters of Quanzhen daolongmen sect in the palace. Up to now, it has been passed down for seven generations, and the inheritance pedigree is very clear. There are 67 pieces of "ten rhymes" in Dongyue Temple of Pingyang. Except for the same rhymes and melodies, there are actually 33 pieces. They are used in the morning class, evening class, wushigong, zhuzhenchao, Yankou and other ceremonies. Among them, there are 14 in the morning class, 13 in the evening class, 10 in the Fifth Division, 10 in Zhuzhen Dynasty, 20 in Yankou. In order to meet the needs of the Zhaizhu, local music was also absorbed in the inheritance, such as Buddhist monk's board, he opera's luobangzi, Ou opera's erhan and so on.
At present, the book "Taoist music of Dongyue Temple in Pingyang" has been published and edited by vice president Huang Xinyang. It is made into a disc and distributed all over the country. Most of the monasteries of Quanzhen Taoism in China have adopted "shifangyun", which shows its profound significance and influence.
