Introduction to Taoist music of Wudang Mountain Temple
Applicant: Shiyan City, Hubei Province
Wudang Taoist music is a treasure of Chinese folk music. In most cases, it is an integrated form of song, dance and music, which can be divided into "rhyme tune" and "brand" according to the genre. According to the different performance occasions, objects and purposes, "Yunqiang" can be divided into two categories: "yangdiao" and "yindiao"; and "Pai" can be divided into three categories: "Zhengqu", "shuqu" and "Faqi Pai". There are "mountain sheep", "Wutong moon" and "welcome to fairy guest", etc.
During the Zhenguan period of Tang Dynasty, Wulong temple was first built in Wudang Mountain. Since then, Zhengyi and Quanzhen sects of Taoism have come to Mount Wudang to preach in succession, and famous Taoist teachers of all dynasties have also lived in seclusion here to practice. The long-term religious activities have left extremely rich music materials. Wudang Temple Taoist music not only retains the music characteristics of Quanzhen school's "ten rhymes", but also has the mixed charm of multi sects music, and has all kinds of rhyme tunes and magic Ware brands, which is a rare important cultural heritage of Taoist music. At present, the "Xuanmen daily recitation morning and evening class", "zushibiao", "sazu iron pot food offering and refining Kefan" and other (full set) music of Wudang temple have been passed on in time and preserved properly and completely. The ancient and pure tune of Wudang Taoist music is irreplaceable by any other music. It greatly broadens the subject of national music and leaves a profound enlightenment for the development of national music in China.
