Applicant: Yiling District, Yichang City, Hubei Province
Yichang silk and bamboo, also known as "fine music", is the representative genre of Yichang folk instrumental art. It is mainly popular in yaqueling and Longquan in Yiling District, with yaqueling as the center, radiating adjacent counties such as Zhijiang, Zhicheng and Dangyang.
Yichang silk and bamboo has a long history and profound cultural tradition, which has been passed on for nearly 200 years and has experienced seven generations of musicians. When Ouyang Xiu was the magistrate of Yiling County in the Northern Song Dynasty, he described the local folk customs as "the fish and salt dynasties in Lashi city were temporarily closed, and the flute and drum in the temple were kept forever"; Su Shi, a famous writer, also left a poem that "the people in front of the temple worship and dance, beat the drum and blow the flute and slaughter the white sheep". According to the records of Donghu county (today's Yiling District) of the Qing Dynasty, the custom of Yichang is "Lantern Festival Drum music, Sheng and Xiao, travel all over the market.
There are more than 60 pieces of music in Sichu, Yichang. There are more than 60 music classes and more than 700 musicians in yaqueling alone. Common repertoire are "water dragon", "play ball", "small hall", "small door", "guest funeral" and so on.
Yichang silk and bamboo has been playing in weddings, funerals, weddings and folk activities for a long time. The Qupai of this kind of music has obvious characteristics of silk and bamboo Qupai, with the derivation method of "one tune generates five tunes, five tunes generate seven Tunes". At the same time, the leading sentence is composed by the starting tone and the ending tone. The melodies of Yichang silk and bamboo are exquisite, and the percussion music often gives people a sense of elegance and freshness. Its melody is more gorgeous, and its style is more standard. Qupai and Xiaodiao blend with local folk songs to form a unique style.
Yichang silk and bamboo is on the verge of extinction due to the fault of inheritance and the aging of artists, which is in urgent need of rescue and protection. It is very important to summarize and study the rules and techniques of music derivation of Yichang silk and bamboo for expanding national music creation and carrying forward national excellent traditional culture.
