Brief introduction to Taige (Yizhang night story)

Applicant: Yizhang County, Hunan Province

Yizhang night story is a kind of performance form of raising the pavilion in the traditional festival folk activities in Yizhang County, Hunan Province.

The third volume of Zhoumi's old stories in Wulin of Song Dynasty records: "the wooden bed and iron engine are used as fairies, Buddhas, ghosts and gods, flying in the air, which is called Taige." The theme of the pavilion is to perform stories. According to Yizhang County annals of the Republic of China, "Chengguan was the most popular in the early years of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty. From New Year's day to Shangyuan, there are dozens of TV sets every night, the most popular in recent years. "

Yizhang night stories are held from the first day of the first lunar month to the 15th of the first lunar month, with the Lantern Festival as the climax. Its form is to gather folklore, mythology and drama characters on a table. Most of them are dressed up as a single household, and some are dressed up as a combination of multiple households to perform at night. The story tour is full of bright lights, firecrackers, drums and music.

The project is an outstanding representative of local folk art, enriches the spiritual life of local people, and provides an effective form of expression and self-regulation for the general public.
