Diaojiaolou is a very popular traditional residence of Tujia people. Xianfeng County in Hubei Province is the county with the most existing stilted building entities and the best construction technology inheritance in Wuling Tujia area.

Xianfeng has a long history of stilted building construction and unique skills. There are complete procedures and different techniques from the selection of house foundation, preparation of materials, erection of house to the completion of decoration.
