Gengke town

Gengke town is located in the middle of Xifeng County, Tieling City, Liaoning Province. It is separated from Xifeng City in the west, adjacent to Taoran town in the north, Fangmu Town, Liangquan town and Jinxing Manchu Township in the south, and Anmin town and Zhenxing town in the East. The town governs 6 administrative villages, 24 natural villages and 10300 permanent residents (2017). The total area is 74.85 square kilometers, including 1918 hectares of cultivated land. The natural landform is "seven mountains and half waters, two fields, half roads and manors". The transportation in the town is very convenient, extending in all directions. County level roads, Liaokai line, Shenping line, Xidong road and Kaifeng railway all pass through the town. The total length of county-level roads in the town is 49 km, and the county, town and village three-level roads are connected, realizing the regular bus and Baiyou road for every village.

Historical evolution

Gengke town has a long history. In the 47th year of Emperor Wanli of Ming Dynasty, after the Qing Taizu Nurhachi defeated Yehe, he sealed the whole territory of Yehe as a paddock. At that time, there was gengkewei, and the name of Gengke has been used to this day. "Gengke" comes from Manchu, meaning "bright" and "Chenhui". In 1897, the emperor came to wanyugou for a horse stroll, so people called wanyugou "liumagou". In yuanbaogou cave of Zhongxin village, a hunter pulled out a deer, so this area was called "Tao Lu". Later, the county was built, which was called Tao Lu city. It is said that the "Matong Temple" in tunnan mountain of Mashen temple was built because the Matong of Taizu of Qing Dynasty died here.

In 2013, the provincial government (liaozheng No. 5) approved the cancellation of Gengke Township and the establishment of Gengke town.

Gengke town is located in the north temperate continental monsoon climate with suitable rainfall, four distinct seasons and abundant sunshine, which is suitable for the growth of a variety of crops.

Economics

The main agricultural crops are corn, rice, soybean, sorghum, peanut, tobacco, medicinal materials and various vegetables. Fruit has pear, apple, hawthorn, shanlihong, etc. The forest area of the town is 54000 mu, the forest volume is 77000 cubic meters, and the forest coverage rate is 38%. The main tree species are larch, Pinus tabulaeformis, Pinus sylvestris, oak, birch, poplar, Tilia amurensis, Sophora japonica, etc.

The proven mineral resources of Gengke town include porcelain clay, perlite, limestone, chicken liver stone, quartz stone and coal. Perlite is a kind of rare mineral. It is an important ceramic raw material base in the northwest of Liaoning Province.
