Brief introduction of architectural painting (Bai nationality residential painting)
Applicant: Dali City, Yunnan Province
Architectural painting is a rather broad term. One layer of its meaning is the same as people's common understanding. It refers to the use of color, paint, paint and other raw materials to depict the image on the plane of the building wall; the other layer of meaning refers to the use of soil, stone, wood, cloth, paper, pottery and other materials to decorate the building and its internal furnishings. Based on the geographical and folk reasons, there are very obvious differences in the overall style and detail treatment of architectural color painting in different regions and nationalities in China. The material, technique, color and content all reflect the strong local characteristics, which fully shows the wisdom of the working people to adapt to local conditions.
Popular in Dali City, Yunnan Province, Bai residential color painting is a wonderful flower of Dali Bai culture. It is rich in connotation, exquisite in form, simple and dignified in style. It is not only used for the decoration of shrines, temples and large-scale ancient architectural groups, but also widely used in Bai residential buildings.
Most of the buildings of Bai nationality in Dali are civil structures, often showing the appearance of blue brick, white wall and gray tile. In coordination with this, the color of architectural painting is mainly black, white and gray, focusing on plain white, the main color of Bai residential buildings. Most of the Bai People's houses are decorated with exquisite color paintings on the gate, screen wall, gable, waistline, Longma corner and other parts, among which vanilla pattern, Ruyi cloud pattern and Huiwen pattern appear most frequently, becoming the most ethnic part of the color paintings. In addition to the painted patterns, the doors and eaves of Bai folk houses are decorated with wood carvings to achieve the combination of carving and painting. On the other hand, Zhaobi uses mud as a bucket arch and some mud as relief.
The painted folk style of Bai nationality is the essence of Bai nationality's architectural art. It is deeply influenced by Han culture, and integrates the magnificent atmosphere of the northern architecture and the exquisite and unique Southern architecture, and is permeated with strong national customs. It has become the proof of the cultural exchange between the Bai nationality and the Han nationality. These residential color paintings greatly enhance the aesthetic feeling of housing construction, and vividly reflect the healthy and upward national spirit of Bai people.
