Introduction to Mianren (Mianren soup)
Applicant: Tongzhou District, Beijing
Dough sculpture is an art made of flour by kneading, kneading, shearing, picking, pressing, sticking and pasting. The dough sculpture art of Beijing Tongzhou "noodle soup" is one of its schools.
The art of "noodle soup" began in the late Qing Dynasty, and its style was founded by Tang Zibo (1882-1971). With his profound artistic skills, Mr. Tang Zibo has extensively absorbed the artistic characteristics of sculpture in various places in his long-term practice. He has changed the previous folk dough figurines from "signature type" dough figurines to "pallet type" desk dough figurines, thus making dough figurines a real folk art. Since then, "noodle soup" has created "walnut dough figurines" (delicate dough figurines displayed in half a walnut), relief dough figurines, hanging dough figurines and money making dough figurines. The materials used include flour, pottery, wood, mud, etc., and wool, feathers, silk thread, cotton and other materials are used to make human and animal whiskers and hair, so as to enhance the effect of shape similarity.
The dough sculpture of "Mianren soup" is complete and full in shape, slightly exaggerated in shape, bright and eye-catching in color, diversified in production techniques, and dynamic in air, with distinctive style characteristics. Today, Mr. Tang Suguo, the second son of Tang Zibo, inherits the dough sculpture art of "noodle soup". Due to the high requirements of its production skills, only two students have studied dough sculpture art with Mr. Tang Suguo.
