Shengzhou is located in the east of Zhejiang Province, the upper reaches of Cao'e River and the West foot of Siming. It is rich in bamboo resources and has good cutting performance, which is suitable for the development of bamboo weaving technology. Shengzhou bamboo weaving is widely distributed in the city's bamboo producing areas, with the largest scale in Shengzhou City, cangyan, Changle, Chongren, huangzhe, Tongyuan, Shihuang, Ganlin, etc.

Bamboo weaving in Shengzhou began more than 2000 years ago in the Warring States period. By the time of Han and Jin Dynasties, the craft had been refined. The weaving level of Ming and Qing Dynasties was further improved, and bamboo weaving became an indispensable daily necessities for the people. During the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, bamboo weaving workshops appeared in Shengzhou, which mainly made bamboo woven utensils, such as pull basket, test basket, incense basket, food basket, food basket and shoe basket. After 1949, bamboo weaving artists cooperated to set up a production and marketing workshop for bamboo strips in Shengxian (Zhou). In 1954, it was changed into Shengxian (Zhou) bamboo ware production cooperative; in 1959, it was changed into craft bamboo weaving factory, known as "the first bamboo weaving factory at home and abroad".

Shengzhou bamboo weaving has 12 categories, including baskets, plates, cans, boxes, bottles, screens, animals, people, buildings, furniture, lamps and appliances, and more than 7000 varieties. Its production process is more complex, generally through the design, modeling, mold making, material evaluation, processing bamboo strips, moth proof and mold proof, dyeing, weaving, carving accessories, assembly, painting and other processes, only bamboo strips have sawing, rolling, bamboo cutting, bay, splitting, splitting, pulling, scraping, scraping and other steps, more than 100 weaving techniques. Shengzhou bamboo weaving has four characteristic varieties: bamboo weaving animal simulation, bleaching, flower tendon and blue tire paint. Its representative works include Liuhe tower, Yuefei, suwu sheep, Zhaoling Liujun, etc. The bamboo weaving "nine lion dance Hydrangea" was displayed in the Zhejiang Hall of the Great Hall of the people and was highly praised. As a gift from the Zhejiang Provincial People's government to the new Macao SAR government, the bamboo weaving "return of pearl from the sea" attracted a lot of praise.

Shengzhou bamboo weaving is famous for its exquisite weaving, various crafts and rich colors. The knitting method is thick and thin. The thin one can weave 150 bamboo filaments in one inch, delicate and thin as wings; the thick one can make full use of the elasticity of bamboo, skillfully weave, rough and uninhibited, and simple. Shengzhou bamboo weaving has a long history and profound cultural heritage. In addition to its high practical value and artistic value, it also provides important clues for the study of the history of bamboo weaving production and the folk customs of the rural areas in the south of the Yangtze River. Since the 1990s, all kinds of plastic products have replaced the daily necessities of bamboo weaving. The demand for bamboo weaving is decreasing day by day, and it is difficult for bamboo weaving artists to continue. Shengzhou craft bamboo weaving factory has stopped production in November 2002, and there is no successor of bamboo weaving in Shengzhou, which is in urgent need of rescue and support.
