Tahu village, Heshui Town, Luxi County, Hunan Province, is the "hometown of flower carving art". With its unique national characteristics, distinctive artistic personality and exquisite craft skills, Tahu flower carving is well-known at home and abroad, and has become a wonderful flower in Xiangxi national folk arts and crafts garden. It has a long history, rich connotation, a wide range of subjects and various forms. It is the crystallization of the collective wisdom of the Miao people in the past dynasties and fully reflects the spiritual pursuit and thoughts and feelings of the Miao people.

It is not only used in dress decoration, but also widely used in all kinds of sacrifice, wedding and funeral ceremonies in Miao area. Influenced by Panhu totem worship and Miao witch ghost culture, it permeates all aspects of Miao people's life with mysterious color. For thousands of years, Tahu village of Heshui town has created a number of flower chiselers. From generation to generation, they have been engaged in this business, shaking the tambourine with their hands, carrying bamboo boxes on their shoulders, traveling through villages and villages, going to markets at fairs, cutting flowers and selling flowers, and making their footprints all over Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan and Guizhou. The art of treading tiger and chiseling flowers has greatly enriched the amateur cultural life of the Miao people, improved their aesthetic taste, and made an important contribution to the spread and development of folk culture in southwest ethnic areas. Nowadays, with the changes of living customs, the art of flower carving has been impacted unprecedentedly and is in a critical situation, so it is urgent to take effective protection and support measures.
