The water control myth of Jianyu has been handed down for thousands of years. Its main content is: "he steals the land of the emperor to contain the flood without waiting for the emperor's orders. The emperor ordered Zhu Rong to kill Yu Jiao. He was born to Yu. The emperor ordered Yu's death to set up the nine prefectures (Shanhaijing haineijing) "when Yu was harnessing the water, there was a dragon painting the land with its tail and guiding the water. Among the ethnic minorities in China, the people who worship Yu as a God and the whole nation worship him are only found in the Qiang nationality. Yu is regarded as the protector of his nationality by the Qiang people, and the Qiang area is regarded as the hometown of Dayu. There are records of "Yu Sheng Shi Niu" in historical books. There are many traces of Yu in shinushan, kuoerping, tuyushan and yubeiling.

The myth of Yu in Zaiji is that "his wife mended himself, swallowing the Pearl of God and coix gave birth to Yu." In oral circulation, they are endowed with various primitive ideas and fantasies of Qiang people, and absorb many factors and plots of the times. For example, the water control is related to the tianshenmubita of the Qiang nationality, and the plots recorded in ancient books such as "Yinglong draws the land with its tail" and "Huanglong drags its tail in front" are embodied.

The spirit of self-improvement and hard struggle embodied in Yu myth is the cultural spirit that the Chinese nation should inherit forever. After the "5.12" earthquake, the legend of Yu of Qiang nationality is lost, so the protection work is imminent.
