About uliger:
Applicant: Tongliao City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region
"Wuliger" is Mongolian, which means "Mongolian storytelling". It was formed in the late Ming Dynasty and early Qing Dynasty, and has a history of more than 300 years. It has been widely spread in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the neighboring Mongolian inhabited areas in the three eastern provinces. Yabugan Wuliger, a branch of Wuliger in Tongliao area of Inner Mongolia, has long spread among Mongolian people in Horqin grassland.
There are three forms of expression in yabugan Wuliger, one is the prose style mainly based on narration, the other is the rhyme style mainly based on singing, and the third is the combination of rap and singing. Its content includes a wide range of short stories, the ancient legend "Tao Li" (folk EPIC), folk unaccompanied storytelling and singing, and ballad form storytelling and singing. Artists pay equal attention to lyric and narrative in the process of rap, and combine prose with poetry, speaking with speaking, fully expressing the Mongolian People's love for a happy life and yearning for a better future in Horqin grassland.
Yabugan Wuliger is a precious heritage of Mongolian oral literature and folk art, which has important reference value for the study of Mongolian literature and art, social history and so on. Since 1990s, under the influence of modern culture and entertainment, yabugan Wuliger in Tongliao area has been almost extinct. At present, this precious minority art is facing the dilemma of no successor and needs to be protected and inherited.
