Brief introduction of Wa nationality's Qing Opera
Applicant: Tengchong County, Yunnan Province
At the end of Ming Dynasty and the beginning of Qing Dynasty, Hubei people created the new opera form of Qing opera according to the old Qingyang tune. Before the Xianfeng year of Qing Dynasty, the merchants, soldiers and civilians in transit brought Hubei Qing opera to tangcane village, Tengchong County, Yunnan Province, which is located in the hub of the ancient Silk Road. It spread among the Wa people in Ganshu village and gradually evolved into wa Qing opera.
The tunes of Wa People's Qing opera include "nine tunes and thirteen bans". These tunes are rhythmic, pleasant to the ear, good at narration and lyricism. They retain the primitive and simple characteristics of early Qing opera and have strong artistic expression and appeal. The Qing opera of Wa nationality has beautiful diction, vivid plot and distinctive character. The repertoire that has been handed down includes "Jiang Gu Diao Sao", "Zhui Gan Pang Shi", "meeting in Lu Lin" and "sending rice in An'an", all of which are based on the Han folk stories "three filial piety" and "biography of white crane".
