Introduction to Tibetan Opera (namut Tibetan Opera)
Applicant: Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Gansu Province
Nanmut Tibetan opera was first inspired and initiated by Labrang Temple II. Gongtang danbei zhunmei imitated the performance form of Tibetan Opera and adapted a story of the hunter's Enlightenment from the famous Tibetan biographical literature "Milarepa Daoge" into a play. This is the rudiment of nanmut Tibetan Opera in Gannan. At the end of the 19th century, the fifth generation Jiamuyang danbeijianshen and Langcang living Buddha took Historical Biographies and Buddhist stories as subjects, absorbed folk songs and dances and local rap art, combined with a small band, edited and performed many far-reaching plays such as Songzanganbu, which produced strong repercussions in andoh.
Most of nanmut Tibetan operas praise the positive characters. They express the dramatic scenes with rich imagination, rich mythology and bold romanticism. They have strong national color and local characteristics. They are not only arranged by monks, but also a kind of literary and artistic activity for the masses to entertain themselves. They play a role in promoting the unity, stability and harmonious development of the region. Nanmute Tibetan Opera also encountered difficulties in the new period, and was listed in the first ten pilot projects of intangible cultural heritage protection in Gansu Province.
