Introduction to Daoqing Opera (Shenchi Daoqing Opera)
Applicant: Shenchi County, Shanxi Province
Shenchi Daoqing opera is a branch of folk music Daoqing in China, which is a representative dramatic art form in Xinzhou City. Shenchi Daoqing originated from Daoguan music in Tang Dynasty, and developed into folk drama under the influence of opera art in the middle of Qing Dynasty. During the Xianfeng Period, there were more than 20 Daoqing troupes in Shenchi. By 1932, there were more than 100 Daoqing troupes in Shenchi, which gradually expanded to the surrounding counties such as Wuzhai, Kelan, Ningwu, Daixian and Youyu.
Shenchi Daoqing music is divided into three parts: singing, Qupai, gongs and drums. Its rich singing music not only inherits the ancient traditional Daoqing and folk Daoqing, but also integrates some musical elements of folk songs and local operas.
There are more than 100 traditional plays of Shenchi Daoqing opera. The early plays include biography of Xiangzi, biography of Zhang Liang, biography of Zhuang Zhou, etc.; the middle plays include biography of Cuilian, Wang Xiang wobing, Guo Ju burying Er, etc.; the middle and later plays include Sanxian, Siquan, Da Wa can, etc.; the recent plays include zuichengqiao, zhehuangbao, minggongduan, etc.
Shenchi Daoqing opera has a long history, beautiful singing, rich content and distinctive characteristics. However, in recent years, due to the impact of multi culture, Shenchi Daoqing opera troupe has gradually reduced the number of performances. Shenchi Daoqing art is facing difficulties and needs urgent protection.
