Xishanqiao Street

Xishanqiao street is located in the middle of Yuhuatai District of Nanjing City, adjacent to the core area of Yuhua science and Technology Park in the East, the CBD of Hexi New Town in the north, Yuhua Economic Development Zone and Banqiao new town in the west, Daishan in the South and the vast Yangtze River. It is the hinterland of Yuhuatai District.

Historical evolution

It is said that during the Southern Tang Dynasty, the monks in Niushou mountain built two bridges on the Qinhuai River, namely "Dongshan bridge" and "Xishan Bridge", in order to make it convenient for the people on both sides of the Qinhuai River to travel. Since then, xishanqiao has gradually become the local economic center. In 1949, Nanjing was liberated and xishanqiao Township belonged to Jiangning County. In December 1955, the Nanjing Municipal People's government submitted an application to the State Council, and decided to transfer 10 townships of Jiangning County, including xishanqiao Township, to Nanjing city for management, and set up Yuhuatai District, the 11th district of Nanjing city. On January 1, 1956, the State Council officially approved the transfer of the above areas back to Nanjing. In 1985, xishanqiao township was removed from the township and built into a town. In 2002, xishanqiao street was rebuilt in xishanqiao Town, and the south part of Qinhuai new river of Shazhou and Shuangzha Street office was under the jurisdiction of xishanqiao Street Office of Yuhuatai District.
