Dongfeng town belongs to Weining Yi, Hui and Miao Autonomous County, Bijie City, Guizhou Province. It is located in the southeast of Weining Yi, Hui and Miao Autonomous County. It covers an area of 82 square kilometers, 49 kilometers away from the county. It is adjacent to Dawan Town, Zhongshan District, Liupanshui City in the East, Bandi Township and Zhushi township of Hezhang County in the west, and Ertang town in the southwest. The total area is 109.96 square kilometers, with an average altitude of 1790 meters. There are 15 villages, 120 villager groups, 9394 households and 45241 people in the town. There are Han, Yi, Miao, Bai (Nanjing), Chuanqing, Mongolian and other nationalities living in the town. Dongfeng Zhenfu coal mine produces raw coal and coking coal. There are 18 primary schools.

Name and origin

Originally named luzhang commune, it was changed to Dongfeng during the cultural revolution, implying that "Dongfeng prevails over Xifeng".

Located in the southeast of Weining Yi, Hui and Miao Autonomous County, it borders Dawan Town, Zhongshan District, Liupanshui City, and Yi Township, Zhu City, Hezhang County in the East, Ertang town in the south, Lushan town and Bandi Township in the west, and Bandi Township in the north. Evolution of administrative districts

In 1953, home Arch Bridge Township. In August 1958, the administrative area was changed. In 1962, it was divided into arch bridge commune and luzhang commune. In 1966, arch bridge and luzhang commune merged into Dongfeng commune. In 1983, it was changed to Dongfeng Township. In 1985, the town was changed to Ertang district. In 1992, Dongfeng Town and Caoping township of Ertang District merged to form Dongfeng town.

Demographic situation

By the end of 2010, there were 8364 households with a population of 40678 in the town, which governed 15 villages and 120 villager groups.

Social construction

Dongfeng town has set up three party working committees, each of which governs five villages, as follows: Wenming village, caituo village, Tianqiao village, Caoping village and sanzhuang village are under the jurisdiction of Wenming Party Working Committee; arch bridge village, Huangni village, yingba village, Kaiping village and Zhulin village are under the jurisdiction of arch bridge Party Working Committee; yuanmu village, terraced village, Geshu village, Maoluo village and luzhang village are under the jurisdiction of Chahe Party Working Committee.

Zhenjing is a latitudinal tectonic normal terrain, with xiaohaizilianzi, hanjialiangzi, luobidashan, fengjialiangzi and jiaozidingliangzi as the main framework. It is a majestic basin in the southwest and a low valley basin in the northeast. Landform types are complex and changeable, mainly mountains, with the highest peak of Luobi Dashan at 2690 meters. Carbonate rocks are widely distributed, karst landform is developed, the earth vein is rugged, the mountains are heavy, the mountains are complex, the peaks are overlapping, and the gullies are crisscross. Xiaohaizi Liangzi, in particular, starts from Xianglu mountain and stretches for tens of miles straight to the courtyard of Su's family in Titian village of this town. The local people are commonly known as Baoshan.

The rivers in the territory belong to the upper water system of Wujiang River, with luzhang River as the main river. There are three tributaries, Tuoluo, arch bridge and Geshu. One originates from yingba, Kaiping and Zhulin, one from Tianqiao and caituo, and the other from yuduoluo. Lushan town is the source of luzhang river. The water from Maojing well, Heiyu cave and Huayu cave is also the source of luzhang river. People here have lived on both sides of these rivers and by the stream for a long time. Due to the small amount of water and drop, the utilization value of water energy is small.

There are 17368 mu of cultivated land in the town, four fifths of which are slope cultivated land, 40% of which are barren hills and grass slopes. In the early 1980s, the vegetation coverage rate was about 50%. The land types are various and suitable for the development of agriculture, forestry and animal husbandry.

There are many kinds of vegetation in Liangshan area, mainly evergreen and larch mixed forest, common pine, gingko, Rhododendron and other tree species; low slope land mainly Pinus, Pinus tabulaeformis, Keteleeria, walnut and so on. There are many birds, such as Caragana and owl, and more than 10000 mu of grassland.

Underground resources include coal, iron, copper and so on. Coal is the main resource. It is the main pillar to develop town enterprises. It is estimated that there are mainly seven villages in the town, with reserves of more than 50 million tons. In addition, there are more than 10 kinds of mineral deposits such as zinc, molybdenum and quartz.

The territory is a typical calcium carbonate karst area in Bijie area. There are many karst caves. There are many stalactites in Huayu cave. The natural landscape and cultural landscape of Dongfeng town are interwoven and integrated, which is a place with tourism value.

Dongfeng town has convenient transportation, 5 kilometers away from Dawan railway station. Neikun Railway passes through Zhenjing, only 8 km away from shiyakou railway station. Ai'er highway, Hongxiao highway and Bandi highway cross the whole territory. More than 80% of the 15 administrative villages in the town have direct roads or access roads.

Honors

On July 29, 2020, it was named as the National Health township (county) of 2017-2019 cycle by the National Patriotic Health Campaign Committee.
