Xinhai town

Xinhai town was established in August 2008 with the approval of Shanghai Municipal People's government. Xinhai Town, located in the northwest gate of Chongming, is a traditional important town in the northwest of Chongming. The town covers four state-owned farms of Yuejin, Xinhai, Hongxing and Changzheng, with a total area of 105.04 square kilometers. There are 6043 households in the town, with 10888 urban residents (in 2017) and about 10000 floating population. Historical evolution

The predecessor of Xinhai town in Chongming County of Shanghai is the community management committee of Xinhai District, which is subordinate to Shanghai Guangming Food Group. In February 2004, Xinhai community (Xinhai and Yuejin) and Changzheng community (Changzheng and Hongxing) were merged and established. The regional scope includes four farm areas: yuanyuejin, Xinhai, Hongxing and Changzheng.

1. Niupenggang wetland

Located in the northwest of Xinhai Town, across the river from Haimen, Jiangsu Province. It used to be Niupeng port wharf, but now it is idle. The current situation of the surrounding land is fish pond and reed wetland, and the original office buildings of Yatong company, Yuejin company and County seawall station are scattered around, with a building area of about 2500m2.
