Wujing town

Wujing town is an administrative town under the jurisdiction of Minhang District in Shanghai. It is located in the southeast of Minhang District, where the Huangpu River flows to the East and turns to the north. It is bounded by the Huangpu River in the East and south, facing Pujiang town and Fengxian District respectively, Zhuanqiao town in the West, Meilong town in the north and Huajing town in Xuhui District in the northeast. Zizhu Science Park is located in the territory, covering an area of 37.6 square kilometers. It has 8 villages, 17 neighborhood committees and 127401 permanent residents (2017). After "removing the second and building the first", the Wujing Town Committee of the CPC and the Wujing Town People's government actively explored a new way for the integrated development of Wujing Town, street and town, insisting on the synchronization of reform and development, and giving priority to planning and efficiency.

Evolution of organizational system

Tangwan Town: located 13 kilometers southeast of Xinzhuang, Tangwan town is close to the North turning point of Huangpu River and the left bank of the confluence of cherry River and Yutang river. It is a rural town with a history of more than 500 years. Tangwan is named because it is located in the bay of Yutang river.

Wujing Street: Wujing street is located in the northeast of Minhang District. It is adjacent to Huangpu River in the East. There is a wuchongjing River from west to East in the territory. On the north bank, there is wuchongjing Temple (now destroyed), from which Wujing comes.

Tangwan town is located in the south of Minhang District. Tangwan commune was established in 1958, township was established in 1984, and town was established in 1993.

Wujing street was built in 1960 and renamed Wujing street in 1961. In 1997, it covers an area of 10.5 square kilometers and has a population of 28000. It has jurisdiction over 11 neighborhood committees. In 2000, Wujing street and Tangwan town were abolished and Wujing town (based in Wujing) was established.
