On September 7, 2009, the people's Government of Anhui Province officially approved the preparation of Tongcheng Shuangxin economic development zone. Shuangxin economic development zone is located between Xindu town and Shuanggang town in Tongcheng. The planning area is controlled by 10 square kilometers (including 5.5 square kilometers of Xindu town and 4.5 square kilometers of Shuanggang town), involving four villages, namely Yiluo and LuoTan villages in Xindu town, Yongshang and Sanyou villages in Shuanggang town. Shuangxin Economic Development Zone will be built into an industrial cluster with distinctive industrial characteristics and strong comprehensive supporting capacity, mainly developing packaging and printing industries.
