Xishui town

Xishui township is located in the east of Baisha County, Hainan Province, 15 kilometers away from the county. It borders Limushan forest farm in Qiongzhong County in the East, Fanjia Township in Danzhou City in the north, Yuanmen Township in the South and Yacha town in the county in the West. Nanwan River and nanchun River are the two major water systems in the township, which run through the territory from south to North and flow into Songtao Reservoir. Xishui township is named for its large amount of rivers and small flow. The highest peak in the territory, toujianling, is 1335 meters above sea level.

General situation

Xishui township is located in the South East of Baisha Li Autonomous County, Hainan Province, 17 kilometers away from the county. It borders Qiongzhong Li and Miao Autonomous County in Hainan Province in the East, Yuanmen Township in Baisha Li Autonomous County in the south, Yacha town in the West and Fanjia Township in Danzhou City in Hainan Province in the north. Xishui township is rich in natural resources, with a land area of 343000 mu,. The main economic crops are rubber, sugarcane, southern medicine (Callicarpa nudiflora, Alpinia oxyphylla, grass bandits, etc.), bamboo, banana, etc. The township has a total population of 6157 people (in 2017), which governs 4 village committees and 35 villager groups; there is a complete primary school and a health center; in 2011, the per capita income of farmers was 4520 yuan.

Evolution of organizational system

In 1935, Baisha County was established as Xishui Township in the first district; in 1947, the district office was restored, and the system of Xishui township was abolished; in 1956, Xishui township (Zhongxiang) was established as Yacha District of Baisha County; in March 1958, the district was removed from Jianxiang and upgraded to Daxiang; in October of the same year, the system of township was abolished, and Xishui was incorporated into Yacha people's commune, and Yacha commune and Baisha commune were merged, Xishui was changed into Baisha commune, and Baisha County was merged into dadongfang County in December. In March 1959, Baisha County was abolished, and Xishui belonged to Baisha commune of Dongfang County. In July, Xishui commune was set up from Baisha commune. In June 1961, dadongfang county was disintegrated and returned to Baisha County (Baisha County was subordinate to Hainan Li and Miao Autonomous Prefecture in 1962), which was called Xishui commune; In 1987, the township system was reset. In 1997, it covers an area of 244.9 square kilometers and has a population of 4000. It has jurisdiction over four village committees: Hekou, fumen, luoren and baishuigang. In accordance with the industrial development policy of "moderately developing the old three samples (rubber, sugarcane and cassava) and expanding the new three samples (bamboo, southern medicine and aquaculture)", vigorously develop the advantageous industries. In the first half of 2012, the total planting area of sugarcane, rubber and cassava reached 11680 mu, 34000 mu, 15000 Mu and 3235 Mu respectively. In terms of "new three samples", 547 mu of ginger, 6800 mu of naked Purple Pearl, 4850 mu of bamboo, 5800 mu of banana, 110 tons of aquatic products, 3520 pigs, 145 cattle, 367 sheep and 110000 birds are planted in the township. In the first half of this year, the township has subsidized 70 home appliances (automobiles and motorcycles) to the countryside, with a subsidy amount of 38488 yuan; granted 320000 yuan of grain subsidies and comprehensive direct subsidy of agricultural means; granted 210000 yuan of grain for green; and fully completed the work of confirming the right of homestead in the township.

Characteristic industry

Southern medicine Callicarpa nudiflora is an important measure of industrial economic structure adjustment in Xishui township. Its advantages of industrial development are less investment, quick effect, low risk, high rate of return, and good economic and social benefits. After planting, it can be harvested three times in two years, and its life span is about 35 years. Its stem, leaf, flower and seed can be used as medicine, mainly for periodontitis, uterine bleeding, gastric bleeding and other diseases. Bamboo industry

Xishui Township vigorously develops bamboo industry, and mobilizes farmers to plant bamboo in front of and behind houses, along rivers and roadsides. At present, 4980 mu of sijizhu and Dendrocalamus latiflorus have been planted in the township.
