On January 17, 2018, with the approval of the people's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Duolun County abolished Dahekou Township and established luanyuan town.

On February 8, 2018, luanyuan town of Duolun County was officially established. On January 17, 2018, with the approval of the people's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, Dahekou township was cancelled and luanyuan town was established. After the township was removed, the administrative division of Duolun County will be adjusted from the original two towns and three townships to three towns and two townships. The abolition of Dahekou Township and the establishment of luanyuan town marks the end of the history of Dahekou township.
